At Golden Years Haven, we believe every senior deserves comfort, companionship, and love — dog or human. But the reality is heartbreaking:
Senior dogs are often overlooked in shelters, passed by for younger, more energetic dogs. Many of these sweet souls have little or no chance of adoption, despite having years of love left to give.

Since opening our doors, we’ve learned something equally important about our human senior community. Many are former pet owners who deeply miss having a dog by their side, but two fears stop them:

“What will happen to the dog if something happens to me?”
“Can I afford food, vet care, and medications on a fixed income?”

These fears keep seniors from welcoming a dog into their home — even though companionship is exactly what many of them need most.

🐾 Where Golden Years Haven Steps In

We created Seniors Saving Seniors to remove every barrier standing between a senior human and a senior dog who needs them.

Through this program, we match a senior dog with a senior human who can offer a safe, loving home. In return, they receive the unconditional love of a dog who never thought they’d have a couch, a warm bed, or a family again.

Golden Years Haven covers all expenses:

Food
Prescription medications
Veterinary care
Support from our volunteers for walks, day care, or temporary help

We eliminate every financial and logistical hurdle so seniors can simply love and be loved.

And the biggest relief of all:
If the human ever falls ill or can’t care for the dog temporarily, we take the dog back immediately — no guilt, no fear, no uncertainty. The dog remains safe with us until their human is ready again.
