Mission & Purpose
The Richard Coker Scholarship Fund was established to honor the memory of Richard Coker and to invest in the next generation of compassionate healthcare professionals. This fund stands as a lasting tribute to the exceptional medical teams at East Alabama Medical Center and The Bethany House, whose profound love, care, and compassion brought immense comfort to Richard and his family. Through this scholarship, the Coker family seeks to support local students who embody that same heart for serving others as they pursue a career in the medical field.

Eligibility & Selection
This scholarship is open to local students dedicated to entering the healthcare profession.

Field of Study: Open to students pursuing degrees or certifications in medicine, nursing, allied health, or related medical fields.

Core Criteria: Applicants must demonstrate academic commitment, a clear dedication to healthcare, and, above all, genuine love and compassion for others.

Awarding Body: Scholarship recipients and award amounts are determined annually by the Coker family.
