BACKGROUND

Rinconcito Salvadoreño is a Salvadoran restaurant that has been serving the community of Port Chester, NY for over 25 years. With history dating back to the early 1980’s in Jamaica, Queens, the Rinconcito Salvadoreño has a family tradition of supporting their community here in the States and back home in their native El Salvador. One of its owners, David Sorto has teamed up Ulises Cartagena, and Salvador Espinoza, all New York based Salvadorans with a passion to help make a social impact for youth in El Salvador.

OVERVIEW

A school located in a village in the department of Santa Ana, El Salvador, is in much need of support. Named after David’s Grandfather, this school has a lot of sentimental value to the owners of the Rinconcito Salvadoreño. A school which has 150 students, lacks the resources to prepare meals for their students due to its kitchen deteriorating. We will be working to raise funding for renovations.

GOAL

To raise a grand total of $6,000 to fully build the kitchen and seating area.
Completion of construction before March 2021 (school begins).
Provide children with a healthy and positive lunch experience.
To support the school staff with the space and tools needed to provide nutritious meals to their students.
